Human rights in the digital age
Okay read this and think about it. I certainly don't want people controlling what I have access to see on the web. So how do businesses provide my house with internet access as well as the services I use?
The thing that some people don't realize is the "toll both" type aspect that some companies are trying to do on "their" network. I am perfectly understandable in that if someone can't pay the phone bill, they can't use the phone. But I'm not understanding how they think they can charge me (through service fees) one price to talk to my parents and another to talk to Netflix.
Now that is all business related. The consumer is not a serf to be used. But in the fact that we're not serf's, if there are parts of our government that support the internet infrastructure, we all should be taxed to support it. Businesses should be taxed in one model, and consumers in another. That makes equal sense, as long as "Ma Bell" isn't getting a free hand-out that is... :-)
